BGSU Welcomes Back Comedy Central's Jade Esteban Estrada

New York, NY (PRWEB) October 20, 2006 -- Comedy Central star Jade Esteban Estrada will return to Bowling Green State University for the second installment of his time trilogy, ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 2 at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2006 in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Estrada is currently on a nationwide tour celebrating National Lesbian and Gay History Month. Out Magazine lauds him "the first gay Latin star" and the Richmond Times-Dispatch calls him "a master entertainer."

Winner of the 2004 Audience Favorite Award in Solo Performance at the Columbus National Gay and Lesbian Theatre Festival, ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 2 takes an entertaining look at world history through the voices of Alexander the Great, Queen Christina of Sweden, Susan B. Anthony, Billie Jean King, Harvey Milk and 9/11 hero Mark Bingham. "Catch ICONS as soon as you can, or you will surely live to regret it," warns Curve Magazine.

In ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 1, Estrada took on the roles of Sappho, Michelangelo, Oscar Wilde, Gertrude Stein, Sylvia Rivera and Ellen DeGeneres. The show recently celebrated its 209th performance at the University of Delaware.

Estrada is best known for his appearances on Comedy Central's "The Graham Norton Effect" and "In The Life TV" on PBS. His Latin dance music can be heard on the Golden Globe and Emmy award-winning police drama "The Shield."

He also received the 2005 Performance Artist of the Year recognition at the Pride in the Arts Awards last year. His most recent solo show ICONS: The Lesbian and Gay History of the World, Vol. 3 was awarded Best Solo Performance and Best Original Music. The musical received special notice for Estrada's composition and performance of the song "Republican Princess," sung by the character Mary Cheney, daughter of Vice-president Dick Cheney. Outlook Weekly calls him, "one of the finest solo theatre artists of the 21st century."

The stage performer is currently in rehearsal for his next solo show titled, "Gay Christian, Gay Muslim, Gay Jew" written by award-winning playwright Jerry Rabushka.

Estrada was the featured headliner for National Lesbian and Gay History Month at BGSU in October 2005. This is his second visit.
