CentralDispatch.com Launches the Price per Mile Calculator: A New Tool to Increase Vehicle Transportation Efficiency
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) August 26, 2008 -- CentralDispatch® (www.CentralDispatch.com), the automotive industry's transportation marketplace, today announced the launch of the price per mile calculator, now available for all vehicle shipments posted on CentralDispatch.com. Without leaving the CentralDispatch online interface, carriers, dealers and auctions have another benchmark to determine whether posted vehicle shipments can be transported in a cost effective manner. The price per mile calculator is yet another innovation, based on client feedback, to make CentralDispatch.com the industry's most comprehensive online transportation management center.
"It's great that CentralDispatch is displaying the price per mile -- I love that feature," commented Steve Ward, Manager of Chips Transport and CentralDispatch member since 1999. "It just makes my job easier, and seeing the price per mile is more important than ever with the high fuel prices. Now I don't have get out my calculator or go into a different system to get this number; it's right there in front of me, along with all the other pertinent vehicle information."
The new feature takes the guesswork out of the process and users can now determine the price per mile with the click of a button, making transportation price decisions fast and easy. To use the new tool, members simply log in to CentralDispatch.com, post the vehicles they wish to ship at their preferred price based on the origination and destination. The CentralDispatch system then automatically calculates the distance of the trip and the price per mile. Carriers looking for shipments and dealers reviewing current market rates can sort vehicles by the price per mile, with highest paying loads appearing at the top of the search listings. The new tool is especially helpful given today's high fuel prices.
"The price per mile calculator is another tool to help our users transport vehicle more efficiently," commented Joe Steinberger, CentralDispatch VP of Product and Business Development. "We continuously investigate methods to help make vehicle transportation faster, easier and more cost effective for all of our members. Since many car carriers make decisions based on the price per mile, dealers also need that information to price loads appropriately. We decided to add that number to the listed vehicle information and let users sort based on it, thus eliminating extra steps many users were taking outside of CentralDispatch."
